A GEM IN THE HILLS
Emerald country club, 13th hole with a view to the clubhouse, Victoria Australia 2014
Oil on stretched canvas 30" x 40" by Kenneth S Hunt
Emerald Country Club – Permanently closed in January 2017.
Nestled in the heart of the magnificent Dandenong Ranges, The Emerald Golf& Country Resort could have quite rightly laid claim to being one of the most picturesque and aesthetically pleasing golf courses in Victoria.
Its fairways meandered through the secluded forest setting, offering an abundance of wildlife and breathtaking scenery.
Sadly this beautiful golf course with a colourful history that dated back to the earlt 20th century was closed
Emerald golf course was transformed from a private 9 hole course in the early to mid-1900’s to the beautiful but tight and challenging 18 hole public golf course. I have enjoyed many games of golf with close friends here as this lovely place is not far from where I live.
I chose to paint this scene from the 13th hole as from there I could give you a sweeping view from the 18th on the left across to the clubhouse centre and even a bit of the small dam far right. I added some life in this painting by including a small image of myself and my mate Geoff pondering a long putt on a difficult green and some cars, carts and other people enjoying a warm day in a magnificent place.
I am incredibly sad that it has closed. But extremely pleased that I created this magnificent oil painting before it went. We all now have a record of its once illustrious existence, and for me good memories of many a fun time with mates.
